Introduction: Addiction is a disease that affects all physical and mental aspects of individuals, and self-control means that a person can dominate their behavior and emotions in various situations and circumstances. Since self-control and addiction are two vital aspects that significantly influence human behavior and well-being, this review article aims to examine the relationship between self-control and addiction by drawing on past research literature. The research conducted in this field utilized questionnaires, interviews, pre-tests, and post-tests, and most studies found a significant negative relationship between these two variables. Higher levels of self-control in individuals resulted in their non-return to drugs and aided individuals involved in addiction by increasing their self-control levels and educating them in this process.
