Title: Interdisciplinary study of spiritual and aesthetic chills (Aesthetic Chills); A physical reaction to divine signs

| Introduction: "Chills of the skin" or "humming spreading on the surface of the body" or "spiking of hair on the body" are more or less common reactions when faced with great, beautiful, amazing and extremely impressive phenomena. Although the cause of these phenomena is unknown, it is a good result of communication and the heavy and pervasive impact of meaning on matter and the inside on the outside. The variety of phenomena that cause these reactions, as well as their relationship with the spiritual and inner states of man, makes it difficult to identify its physiological cause, but in this article, we have discussed the common factors and conditions that cause this psychosomatic state with the method of reviewing and analyzing existing interdisciplinary researches, and based on this common cause, we have examined the causes and types of this reaction. Due to the fact that this phenomenon opens a way to discover openings of a deep connection between matter and meaning, it can be very significant for interdisciplinary research, while in Islam this state is introduced as one of the results of faith and guidance. In the future researches, we can focus on the calming and health-giving effects of this reaction with experimental and theological comparative studies in Islam and even Christianity and Hinduism. |
