Introduction: Percutaneous dilatation tracheostomy (PDT) is suggested as a method to perform an elective tracheostomy. The aim of this study was to determine the frequency distribution of short-term complications of tracheostomy through the lid in contrast to tracheostomy tracheostomy (ST) in Alzahra hospital in Isfahan (Iran).
Materials and Methods: In this clinical trial study, 40 patients were divided randomly into two groups of 20 patiencts: PDT, and surgical tracheostomy (ST). Patients were matched for age, sex, duration of surgery and intraoperative bleeding, length neck, cost, short-term complications.
