Internal evaluation of obstetrics and gynecology department of Semnan university of medical sciences in year 2002

Introduction: the aim of this research was to evaluate of Obs & Gyn department in order to obtain scientific and experimental skills, correct judgment and quality improvement of medical education. Material & Methods: In this research accrediting pattern has been used. Obs & Gyn department started its internal evaluation on March 1998 by forming evaluating committee ending on March 2002. In this study educational-goals, therapeutic goals and research goals was evaluated. Also the statement of organization and procedure of education as well as human resources, space and equipment was evaluated. In order to collect the data, 40 different questioners were used and in each questioner evaluating records were grouped from score 1 to 5 (very good to very weak). The average record was determined and Gorman classification was used for final evaluation and analysis. Records less than 2.51 score were considered unsatisfactory. Results: In evaluation, achievements of educational goals of Obs & Gyn department with 3.5 score record and evaluation of educational procedures with 3.13 score record was grouped more than satisfactory and evaluation of educational programs of the group with 3.8 score record was grouped as strong in Gorman classifications. Therapeutic goals with 3.58 score record was grouped as good, organizational chart with 3.85 score record was grouped as good and research goals with 4.5 record was grouped as satisfactory and space and equipment and human resources with 3.90 record was as good based on Gorman's classification. Conclusion: In total, the overall score of Obs & Gyn department with 3.79 records was grouped as more than satisfactory in Gorman's classification which shows optimal status in Obs & Gyn department.
