Introduction: One of the effective factors on the academic achievement is stressors. Correspondingly, the aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between the stress behavioral items and the academic achievement among the students of the various branches of medicine.
Materials and Methods: It was a descriptive-analytic study performed on 408 students in Semnan University of Medical Sciences (Semnan, Iran) (2015-2016). In this study, the multi-stage sampling method was used. The data was collected using the Gudzla's Student Stress Questionnaire. The average of each students’final scores was considered as the academic achievement index.
Results: The results showed that there was no direct and significant correlation between the academic achievement and the students’ general stress score (P = 0.728, r = -0.017). But, a negative and a significant correlation between the behavioral stress item and the academic achievement (P = 0.046, r = -0.202) was observed.
Conclusion: The results of the study indicated that there was no significant relationship between the stress score and the academic achievement. However, there is a significant correlation between the behavioral stress items and the academic achievement in the negative direction. Hence, it is suggested the stress management short-term courses could help students to manage their stress.
